Nethyrin is the oldest city on the continent of Oreitheldarin, built mostly upon the ruins left by the peoples that lived here long ago. The Alquaotso River runs through the city in deep canals, taking the place of ninety percent of the streets and thoroughfares, so most travel in the city is done by skiff or small gondola. There is a grand town square with beautiful statuary, again most of which predates the current residents, off the grand square are many palazzos and villas made of marble and brick.

Nethyrin is the home of a Theater, Opera House, and a Symphony Orchestra, a cultural center for the performing arts and there are many of those that pursue those trades within the population of the city. The citizens are a good mix of Elves, Half-Elves, and Human stock, living for the most part in harmony.

Nethyrin is also the closest city to Starhost Keep, the home of the King and Queen of Oreitheldarin, Ard Rhi Gil-galad Sinda and his Queen Star Elenmirre Sinda. It is not unusual to see the members of the Grand Army of Oreitheldarin within the city, as it is a favorite place to relax and enjoy time off.

Ysabeau Moonsilver is the Princess of Nethyrin, though she has given up all but the title. The hereditary Duchess of Nethryin is Grace McCade, of the Clan McCade. Her palazzo is one of the most lovely in the entire City.
